50% of tennis players who had a fling with someone at their tennis club says it improved their tennis game, research shows.
Tennis players said their regular tennis game became exciting when there was the possibility of bumping into their lover.
95% of tennis players had a fling with someone of the opposite sex and 5% had a fling with someone of the same sex.
The statistics emerged as the World Tennis Federation looked at new ways to improve tennis standards across the globe.
Sex therapist Lizzie Ardant said: “Playing a long tennis match with someone you find attractive means your connection with them can become very deep and passionate. Wanting to have sex with that person raises your libido and in turns makes you a better tennis player.”
“As you begin to feel more horny at your tennis club, this makes you more energised and wanting to show off in front of your lover.”
Overall, 50% of the 100,000 tennis players interviewed said they considered their affair at their tennis club to be a positive experience.
30% said they were still having an affair, whilst 70% said the affair had fizzled out.
When asked by journalists if the World Tennis Federation would encourage people to have an affair at their local tennis club – the WTF spokesperson said “Hell yes. Over the years I have had loads of affairs and it’s great. Especially when you have just come off court and you are all sweaty. Nipping round the back of the club house for a quick shag is an amazing experience. Everyone should do it.”
