After many years of deliberating, the World Tennis Federation have finally got around to changing their rules to punish badly behaved tennis players.
The WTF realise that there is no point fining badly behaved tennis players, because they just pay the fine and carry on behaving badly.
So now the WTF have decided to introduce a “naughty step” to shame badly behaved tennis players and humiliate them.
As with normal WTF rules, a badly behaved tennis player will get two warnings. However, if they persist in their bad behaviour (and after a 3rd warning) the naughty step will be brought out onto court and the badly behaved tennis player will be forced by security personnel to sit on it for 3 minutes.
During this 3 minute “naughty step” period, the audience will be encouraged to hurl abuse at the tennis player in question.
When challenged by journalists about this rule change and asked if the introduction of the “tennis naughty step” might cause mental anguish to tennis players. The WTF official for rules – Mrs Irene Stoofit said “We don’t care about players well being. The public have paid good money to see a game of tennis and if someone wants to be a pre-madonna on court that is unacceptable. So they will now suffer some abuse in return.”
The WTF have confirmed the tennis naught step will be introduced to all WTF matches starting next month. Plus, for a doubles match, if one player is behaving badly, both players will be punished and forced to sit on the tennis naughty step.

But can the other player carry on playing while one is on the naughty step?
No – the other player cannot continue playing tennis whilst the badly behaved player sits on the naughty step. Under WTF rule 3678.009 it clearly states “when one or more players are on the naughty step, the opposing players must also join in with the crowd and hurl abuse at the offending players.”
no – both players must sit on the neughty step – playing doubles mean you suffer together!
